Godolphin uses the London 11+ Consortium assessment, not its own paper and not the ISEB pre-test. What the test is, who else uses it, and the dates.

Godolphin and Latymer does not set an entrance paper. It is one of fourteen schools in the London 11+ Consortium, and a candidate sits one shared assessment whose result goes to every member school she has applied to.

Two things follow from that, and both are commonly got wrong.

It is not the ISEB Common Pre-Test

One test, fourteen schools

A girl applying to four Consortium schools sits the assessment once. What still differs school by school is the interview and how each weighs the result, so preparation here is one assessment and several conversations rather than four exams.

The member schools are Channing, Francis Holland Regent's Park, Francis Holland Sloane Square, Godolphin and Latymer, Highgate, More House, Northwood College for Girls, Notting Hill and Ealing High School, Queen's College London, Queen's Gate, South Hampstead High School, St Augustine's Priory, St Helen's School London and St Margaret's School.

What this means for preparation

The Consortium is explicit that it designed the assessment to resist teaching to the test — it says so as a reason the format exists at all. Taken seriously, that changes where the hours go.

Underlying reading, number sense and problem solving matter far more than drilled technique, and the creative and critical thinking half genuinely does not reward cramming. The one mechanical skill worth practising is pacing: a hundred minutes across several very different task types, without losing time in the transitions.

Dates for September 2027 entry

Every date above except the interviews and the music auditions is the Consortium's, so it is identical at all fourteen member schools. That is worth knowing when you are juggling several applications: the deadlines do not stagger, and missing one misses all of them.

Entry is open to girls born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016.

Fees

For 2026/27 the year totals £36,380 — but not in equal thirds:

The fee rises mid-year, which no other school on our roster does. Budgeting three terms from the autumn figure understates the year by about £1,286.

Registration costs £210, non-returnable and including VAT, and there is a £3,300 deposit on acceptance, credited against fees at the end of your daughter's time at the school.

The fee covers textbooks, stationery, public examination fees, day visits out of school for whole year groups in Years 7 to 9, and personal accident insurance.

Bursaries

Awards run from 10% to 100% of fees, means-tested, and are available at both 11+ and 16+.

Applying is simpler than at most schools: tick the bursary box on the Examination Entry Form, and a link to the online bursary portal follows within seven days for the application and supporting documents. There is no separate deadline to track.

Godolphin does not publish an income threshold, and the number and size of awards varies year to year. If you are unsure whether you would qualify, the honest answer is that only the School can tell you — and the application costs nothing but time.

Scholarships

The music award is, however, the most generous on our roster: up to 30% of school fees, which bursary funds can increase further, plus free music lessons on one or two instruments. Request details on the Examination Entry Form, issued in September before entry.

Art scholarships exist, but only at 16+.

Sixth form entry

16+ is set by the School itself rather than by the Consortium, on its own timetable, and it is the entry point where art scholarships become available. It is a genuinely separate process from the 11+, and worth looking at on its own terms rather than assuming it mirrors the younger round.

How to prepare

Build capability, not technique. The Consortium says it designed this assessment to resist coaching. Reading widely, number fluency and puzzle-solving move the needle here; drilled exam patterns mostly do not.

Use the Consortium's familiarisation materials. They are the only official picture of the test, and they are free.

Practise on a screen, and practise switching. A hundred minutes across several task types rewards a girl who can change gear without losing her footing.

Prepare the interview separately. It is the one part of this process that is Godolphin's own, and it is where a school that has already seen the score decides whether it wants the candidate.

This is also the school on our roster where starting late is least penalised, precisely because the test resists drilling. Four months of good reading and problem solving does more here than four months of paper practice would at a school setting its own papers.
