Diagnostic Assessment
We begin with an initial assessment to identify strengths, gaps, and priority areas — tailored to St Paul's's specific entrance requirements.

Our background at St Paul's School
Our St Paul's tutors attended St Paul's School and understand the school's academic culture — a genuine love of learning, intellectual independence, and the ability to engage deeply with challenging material.
St Paul's 11+ is a three-stage process: ISEB pre-test, written papers, and interview. Each stage requires a different type of preparation. We build all three — reasoning fluency, analytical writing, and interview confidence — in a single structured programme.
Planning ahead
Suggested Timeline — 11+ / 13+ Entry
Apply by mid-October Year 6. Sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test in early December of Year 5. The pre-test covers VR, NVR, English, and Maths — all online and adaptive. Strong performance here is the gateway to Stage 2.
Shortlisted candidates sit two English papers (comprehension + composition, 45 min each) and a Maths paper. Focus on analytical writing quality and precise mathematical reasoning.
Final shortlist invited for interview. Around 36 boys are accepted per year. Prepare for intellectual discussion and the ability to think clearly under pressure.
13+ candidates sit the ISEB Pre-Test in Oct/Nov of Year 6, then written Maths (60 min) and English (45 min) papers at the school in Year 8.
