No. Latymer Upper sets its own entrance papers in English and maths. It does not use the ISEB Common Pre-Test. That is worth checking against anything else you read, because ISEB pre-test courses are sold under this school's name and they prepare for a different assessment: an adaptive multiple-choice test across four subjects, rather than a 60-minute maths paper and two written English papers. If your child is also applying to schools that do use the pre-test, both preparations are needed and they are not the same work.

Three papers in one sitting on Wednesday 2 December 2026, 140 minutes of writing in total: english, comprehension (35 minutes), english, descriptive writing (45 minutes), mathematics (60 minutes). There is a 20-minute break after the English papers. The descriptive writing paper is the longest single piece at 45 minutes, which is more sustained writing than most 11+ papers ask for.

Candidates who do well in the papers come back on Wednesday 6 January 2027. A half day of immersive learning activities in classroom settings, plus a 1:2:1 interview. The School says the session contains elements its academic team uses to learn about character, curiosity and teachability. It is not a second written exam, and it is not a quiz on what your child knows — the classroom activities are there to see how they work with other children and with an unfamiliar teacher.

Monday 12 October 2026, 12pm. Registration closes at midday. The registration fee is £220 including VAT, waived for full bursary applicants. Your child must be in Year 6 when they sit the paper in December. One number worth knowing before you get to the end: accepting a place requires a non-refundable confirmation deposit of £2,400 including vat.

No. Latymer Upper has two published entry points, 11+ and 16+, and no prep department. Families moving from a prep school often assume a 13+ round exists here; it does not, so the 11+ in Year 6 is the entry to plan for. Occasional places do come up in other year groups, but they depend on someone leaving and are not a round you can register for.

Most families we work with start twelve to eighteen months out. That leaves room to build the underlying English and maths before anything is timed, and to spend the final autumn on the School's own English and maths papers and the January interview session. Shorter runs work and are common — we have prepared candidates in under four months — but a short run is triage rather than a full pass, and we will be straight with you about what is realistic before you book anything.
