Exam Format
King's College School
Wimbledon, London — Independent Day School
11+ Entrance Papers — 3 papers (internally set, no fixed pass mark)
- English (50 min) — Reading comprehension (30 min) + Creative Writing (20 min).
- Mathematics (50 min) — Two sections: Section A (shorter questions) and Section B (extended reasoning). Topics include fractions, percentages, money, time, and temperature at Year 6 level.
- Verbal Reasoning — GL Assessment-style questions. No official sample papers released by the school.
Interview
- Interview (January) — For shortlisted candidates. Assesses curiosity, confidence, and communication skills.

Students work through hand-crafted exam papers with unlimited online practice tests that replicate the real assessment format, tracking performance throughout.
Interview & Confidence Coaching
Beyond academic preparation, we prepare students for interviews and assessments, building confidence, clarity of expression, and readiness for assessment day.
Many families use online platforms for extra practice. These work best when paired with expert tutoring. Our role is to identify the root cause of mistakes, teach the underlying method, provide written feedback, and guide parents through the entrance process.

Our background at King's College School
Our KCS tutors attended King's College School and know the school's academic standards inside out — the level of English analysis, mathematical reasoning, and verbal fluency that the entrance papers demand.
KCS sets its own papers internally and does not release official sample materials — which makes the quality of preparation even more important. We prepare students with KCS-specific mock papers and targeted feedback that reflect exactly what the school's examiners reward.
Planning ahead
Suggested Timeline — 11+ Entry
Begin consolidating core Year 5 Maths and English concepts. KCS papers are set internally and papers are not publicly released — preparation requires close familiarity with the expected style and standard.
Intensive KCS-specific preparation. English: comprehension analysis and timed creative writing. Maths: Section A accuracy and Section B extended reasoning. Verbal Reasoning: GL Assessment-style fluency. Mock papers under timed conditions throughout.
Sit KCS entrance papers: English (50 min), Maths (50 min), and Verbal Reasoning. No fixed pass mark — the school selects by rank order from results.
Shortlisted candidates are invited for interview. Offers follow shortly after.
